For the past week I've been bumpin' the homie, Pro. When he dropped his debut album, "The Blackout", I read a review where the reviewer thought Pro needed to humble himself a little bit more but to me there's a difference between arrogance and being a confident emcee. To me, Pro be spittin' straight fire that I think people need to catch up with. My dude is straight gutter but still keeps it Christian. I first caught wind of Pro from the mixtape he did with Wade-O called My Name is Pro and I've been a fan ever since. Just from the introduction my dude spit, "Some lames bought the title but they couldn't pay the note/So I repossed the game, it's time for change. I do this for my people hustlin', for all my people thuggin'/For all yall I whip tracks like they stole somethin'. This for my people prayin', reppin' the Lord's name and/For all yall I eat rappers like I'm buffetin'." Come on, dog. This dude needs to be on 106 & Park's freestyle Friday straight slayin' cats. But not only do I respect Pro for being the emcee that he is, I also respect him for being on his grind. When you go to DaSouth.com and see Pro on the front page then you go to another hip hop site and see him there as well, don't hate on him but congratulate him for handlin' his business. Dunnie tryin' to get it and I ain't mad at him. Even though everyone that is a part of the Christian hip hop culture is trying to make a difference in this world, we can't forget the fact that this game is still a business and we can't be afraid of that or hate on the next man or woman because he or she is trying to eat off of what God has enabled them to do in this world. I love when Pro said what he said on his cut, "Birth of a King", "Back with a chip on my shoulder about the size of Texas/Cause it's a couple of yall that don't wanna see me ride a Lexus. I'm royalty why I can't buy the H3/Now how you get a smorgasbord and I can't eat? I give 'em truth in High Definition/While most of yall fade out like tube television. It's like I'm givin' 'em something that they ain't seen yet/Cause I've been washed in the blood that's why the flow wet." That's just a little side note for all the haters out there cause yall gonna have me goin' off if I keep on. On a different note, I'm waiting for the Pro and Kingston collaboration album to drop because the chemistry that these dudes have in the booth is sick. I'm talking about chemistry like Rae and Ghost, Red and Meth, Jadakiss and Styles P. When these two get together it's like syrup to pancakes. I have to do more research on my man Kingston to see if he has some heat out here in these streets. But from this point on, every mixtape or album Pro drops I'm going to be looking for that collaboration with his partner in rhyme. The joint, "Hate Me Now" stays in heavy rotation on my iPod. The joint alone is straight fire but I loved it even more when Pro said, "I won't air my dirty laundry cause everyone got skeletons/Mine is a graveyard I buried them. So you can call Craige Lewis, let him know/That he can do a DVD, "The Truth About Pro"." (LOL) I love it. Another hater but we won't go there in this article.
