Indie Filmmakers & TV producers, Hip-Hop, and mountains of Hors d'Oeuvres

12/14/09

The Sarasota County Film & Entertainment Office (SCFEO) "Holiday Mixer" at the gorgeous Longboat Key Club & Resort included tables of delicious foods, attendees that ran the gamut from filmmakers, TV and video producers, videographers & cinematographers, directors and producers, to actors, government officials, infrastructure & sound stage experts, to educators and more.  Plus, a panel of diverse and interesting filmmakers of many types held everyone's attention, elicited laughter and incisive questions, and helped to educate and inform while being entertaining.  Sam Logan, who has produced films with stars such as Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck, Fantastic Four) and Chazz Palminteri, spoke about the logistics of keeping everyone on time and on track; Rob Sterrett discussed his recently wrapped full length indie movie,  Immortal Island, which transformed from horror to thriller genre as the budget shrunk and became a better film for it; Wes Roberts shared the fun and the pitfalls of doing competition short films with a 48 hour turnaround (!); and Maurice & Nicki Lynch covered the bases from his indie scripts and documentary to their company, Righteous Entertainment, producing an ongoing weekly television show featuring Hip-Hop artists that bring positive messages to the audience.  Feedback from attendees was unanimously positive and included location managers who connected with future projects to TV pilot writer/producers who made inroads with possible distribution.  Good people, good conversations, good work!  Thank you everyone who attended and participated.

RETV Debut

Hip Hop Music Fans – Righteous Entertainment Debuts RETV as a Positive Platform for Generation XYZ!

Hosted by Moeski & Nicki Lynch, RETV is a new music video show that exposes the positive side of Hip Hop

Sarasota, FL - (September 25, 2009) -  Hip Hop fans of all ages welcome RETV, a weekly, one-hour positive Hip Hop program.   RETV is currently broadcasted in several major U.S. Markets including Tampa, Atlanta, & Detroit, as well as many smaller towns, college campuses, and online.  Hosted by Moeski and Nicki Lynch, this show boldly steps into the Television spotlight to become Hip Hop’s ultimate destination.

“As a lover of Hip Hop since its early years, we have seen the rapid degeneration of lyrics.  We realized that the majority of messages presented today revolve around sex, drugs, alcohol, violence, or profanity.   Hip Hop fans are crying for a change!   The selection of Hip Hop around the world, is gravely unbalanced.  However, we found there are numerous Hip Hop artists who are presenting positive messages within their lyrics.  Yet, they do not have a mainstream platform to present their music.  RETV aims to be that stage!” says Nicki Lynch, cofounder of Righteous Entertainment.

Airing Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM*, RETV offers viewers 60 minutes of pure entertainment including interviews with celebrity Alternative Hip Hop artists as well as up and coming talent, the latest videos, and an in depth look into Hip Hop’s positive influence on our youth and urban communities.
