Vanguard CDC and Righteous Entertainment Roll Out the Red Carpet Detroit Style for Arise Detroit Neighborhoods Day! Movie Screening and Clothing Drive will support youth in homeless shelters DETROIT (July 23, 2008)- Hollywood is coming to Detroit! Righteous Entertainment is partnering with The Vanguard CDC to host a clothing drive in celebration of the launch of its DVD "Blaze: The Truth Through Hip Hop." On Saturday August 2nd from 5pm-9pm, Righteous Entertainment will be accepting new and gently used clothing at the Vanguard Community Development Corporation at 2785 E. Grand Blvd. The donations would be collected in lieu of an entrance fee to the movie screening and reception with Ralph Scott an executive from BET-J and the founders of Righteous Entertainment. “We felt the Vanguard CDC would be the perfect partner to reach the youth and inspire them to create positive and uplifting films similar to "Blaze," said Nicki Lynch of Righteous Entertainment. “This also gives us the opportunity to support youth in homeless shelters. Donations will help a lot of youth and families during this tough economy, especially those returning to school in the fall," continues Lynch. Fresh from the Hip Hop film circuit, "Blaze" has been lauded by representatives from BET and MTV for presenting a look at a genre of Hip Hop that is oft-overlooked, but gaining momentum. The documentary presents a behind-the-scenes look at Hip Hop artists who leave sex, drugs and violence out of their music. Instead, they lay positive and truthful lyrics atop the style of music that youth today love to hear. As an added bonus to the screening, light refreshments will be served, along with live entertainment. Available for sale at the event will be the "Blaze" DVD, CDs from positive Hip Hop artists and t-shirts. About Righteous Entertainment About the Vanguard CDC |
